So I’m sure you’re getting by now that David and I were greatly enjoying hiking down the East Coast (and having a car to get from destination to destination!). Despite my knee still being sore from Franconia Ridge, I just couldn’t pass up the Chimney Tops Trail when David asked if I wanted to do another challenging rock scramble. It’s only a four-miler, and there’s a 1,500 foot elevation gain in the first two miles. While it doesn’t seem like much, and the trail is relatively unimpressive until you reach the clearing, trust me, this is worth it. When you reach the end of the trail (it’s a there-and-back), you’ll see what looks like a vertical rock surface. Let’s just say that about 90% of people stop at the rock face, take in the views, and turn around. David and I decided to scramble straight up it, even though we had no idea where our hand and foot placements would be. AND IT WAS SO FUN! Check out these views…
