As Valencia is not high up on tourists radar, it was not included in our initial itinerary. The game plan was to rent a car from Gold Car Rentals in the Barcelona Airport and to drive around Spain in their car. Unfortunately, however, we were completely screwed over by Gold Car Rentals and had to change our plans on the fly. As we knew someone in Valencia, three and a half hours away, we decided to use BlaBla Car to find someone who would share his drive with us. Thankfully we did! He was even kind enough to pick us up from the airport.
Needing to find accommodation, we searched Hostelworld and agreed that Purple Nest Hostel looked best. It was centrally located and easy to find — what a relief after such a stressful day! Typical of most of our accommodations, the receptionists were lovely and very informative.
Purple Nest Hostel has an extremely spacious common room which includes a nice sitting area, a fairly large TV, bar, a big kitchen for our use, and a dining area with many tables.
The kitchen has multiple refrigerators, several stoves with more than ten burners, and plenty of pots and pans; they even provide complimentary oil and spices.
The Purple Nest Hostel is so large that it occupies all floors of its entire building. The rooms can be accessed either by a spiral staircase or elevator, and it offers both shared rooms and private rooms. Rooms are pretty big with each designated locker large enough for your important goods and/or a relatively small pack. Each room is also equipped with air-conditioning and heating, which are definite plusses when “dorming it.”
A bonus to Purple Nest Hostel is their wide array of activities they promote. They organize events at popular bars or clubs for you to enjoy the nightlife in Valencia. The atmosphere is one of the more important things in a hostel after security and comfort. Someone is always at the front desk and cameras guard the door. The rooms are comfortable enough for any backpacker and the atmosphere seems to be just right. When you find yourself in Valencia, you need look no further than Purple Nest Hostel.
