You know how sometimes you just want to throw your phone out the window, get away, and go off-the-grid? Believe it or not, that happens to me more frequently than you’d think, which is why I absolutely love places that don’t have consistent cell reception; where, instead of worrying about what’s next and keeping up with the latest trends, you get to live in the now and relax in nature.
When I first found Canopy Camping Escapes three years ago in New Zealand, I instantly knew that I’d found a brand that I’d be head over heels for, and I sure was right! Canopy Camping Escapes has a curated collection of handpicked luxury glamping NZ experiences on both the North and South Island, and it’s incredible for me to see just how much they’ve grown in the last three years! Needless to say, I booked myself into Canopy Camping Escapes’ Green Antler the moment I realized that our itinerary would bring us near one of their properties!
We had a packed itinerary on our JUCY road trip, and we were ready to disconnect and unwind for our final few nights in New Zealand. Part of what makes New Zealand so special is that while it’s home to some of the best adventure activities in the world, it also is completely serene; there’s nothing like waking up surrounded by mountains, watching sunset with a glass of wine, listening to some tunes while cooking, staring up at the starry night sky and just… being.
Canopy Camping Escapes’ Green Antler is located on the Banks Peninsula about an hour east of Christchurch. It’s the perfect location for someone looking to escape the city and immerse themselves in New Zealand’s tranquil landscapes. You can very easily go to/from the Christchurch Airport with no issues, as we ultimately went from Green Antler straight to the airport with no problems at all. While we just relaxed on the property, Little River and Akaroa are both nearby and worth exploring. If you’re looking to get up and stretch your legs, be sure to ask Tony and Andi, owners of the Green Antler, to give you a tour of their deer farm — it’s certainly interesting, and you’ll get up close and personal with the deer on their property.
Set on a 100-acre plot of land, Tony and Andi created the ultimate luxury glamping experience. Their 5-person canvas tent is so much more than a “tent;” in fact, there’s an entire living space inside it! Within the tent, you’ll find a queen-sized bed (with the ability to zipper it off into its own room), a separate room with a bunk bed (one double bed and one twin bed), a lounge area with an incredibly comfortable sofa and chairs, dining room table, wood-burning fireplace, and so much more.
On the patio, you’ll find a fully functional kitchen and BBQ with everything you could possibly need to cook up a nice meal (just make sure to stop at the grocery store on the way there) while overlooking the vast mountainous landscapes.
If you walk around the side of the tent, you’ll find a separate area containing a shower room with amazing water pressure and an impeccably clean compost toilet.
And now, for the best part… there’s a woodburning hot tub. Imagine yourself on a cool evening pouring a glass of wine and climbing into a pre-heated bath while watching the sunset. It was simply magical, and we found ourselves in the hot tub both nights that we were at the Green Antler.
Once you get properly pruney, be sure to put on one of the plush bathrobes provided, grab a chair, take it onto the lawn, and stargaze. If you’re there on a clear night, you’ll find yourself staring up at the Milky Way!
Canopy Camping Escapes’ Green Antler Glamping NZ is a property I surely won’t forget and hope to visit again in the future! If you’re looking for other Canopy Camping Escapes in New Zealand, have a look at The Kissing Gate, The Hexagon, and Top Hut. Hopefully I’ll have more luxury glamping locations to report back on in the near future!
These look amazing! I will put them on my list for my next trip, glamping is a bucket list item of mine.
Oh you’ll love it! Have a blast!
