Have you ever wondered where celebrities have their extravagant weddings or where Arab oil billionaires and royalty stay when they travel? With so much money at their disposal, they must choose the most glamorous of places, right? Right. One such place is the Grand Hotel Europa in Innsbruck, Austria.
We drove into Innsbruck and parked in the underground garage suggested to us by the hotel. The parking garage gives Grand Hotel Europa its own designated parking spots and passageway leading to the elevator you take up to the lobby of the hotel.
The interior is elegant and grand, with the bar towards the rear should you want a cappuccino, coffee, or alcoholic beverage. The receptionists all look like models and greet you with warm smiles and an even warmer manner. Bellboys offered to take our bags to the room, but being young and fit we politely declined.
The room we stayed in was basic but with an understated elegance — a main sleeping area with a mini bar and bathroom, just what we wanted.
Should you desire something more luxurious and quite frankly beyond amazing, you can always ‘settle’ for their Europa Suite. The Europa Suite will provide you with the following: breakfast in the room without service charge; daily newspaper; washing of shirt/blouse; ironing service; and 24 hour room service free of charge.
As for the suite itself, the doors and furniture are original from the late 19th Century; they were crafted from 300 year old wood from a Tyrolean farmhouse. Don’t worry, they have modern amenities installed too. This room is truly meant for the rich and famous, or a honeymooner/newlywed couple that wants pure class.
Speaking of which, Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, and Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones, both hosted events in the Baroque Hall at the Grand Hotel Europa! Like the Tyrolean wood-lavished Europa suite, the Baroque Hall is something beyond elegant with beautiful original paintings and spectacular crystal chandeliers. The Grand Hotel Europa was damaged during World War II, but luckily this hall still remained undamaged.
An important part of any good hotel is the restaurant, and the Grand Hotel Europa does not skimp here either. The enormous spread includes: waffles, pancakes, smoked salmon, seasoned trout, various nuts and fruits, grilled vegetables, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, assortments of bread, croissants, fresh juices of all kinds, various teas of all kinds, milk, chocolate milk, yogurt, honey, granola, biscuits, cheeses, olives, ham, prosciuttos and so much more. The menu of the restaurant is also exquisite. For a reasonable price you can combine dinner and the casino.
The Grand Hotel Europa is, of course, a 5-Star hotel. They deserve every star given, and I know you will understand why when you decide to stay in Innsbruck at the Grand Hotel Europa.
