After being delayed two hours in the Ezezia airport, and waiting for four, I was finally on my way to Quito to meet my mom and grandpa and begin our journey to the Galapagos! The flight was long and miserable, but seeing them made it all worth it. We got up early the next morning for our flight to the Galapagos. It didn’t hit me until we landed that we were in the Galapagos, islands that I remember learning about in seventh grade. To think that we were on lands and seas that most people never touch was unreal. Upon arrival, we took a “panga ride” to our ship – La Pinta. I quickly realized that no one on the ship was under the age of 50 other than myself and my mother – good thing I get along fabulously with older people. I stepped onto the ship, and quickly felt like a drunken sailor; I’d never been on a ship and was unfamiliar with the feeling, but luckily my body adjusted in a timely manner. That afternoon we took a beautiful hike on San Cristobal, admiring the landscapes, flora, and fauna.
